After a century of being held annually, the Barcelona Car Show was suspended last year due to the health crisis. This 2021 the show is being held again. After several changes of dates, the Automobile Barcelona 2021 will take place from September 30th to October 10th and not in July (as planned since February). However, the event will not change its location: the Montjuïc venue of Fira de Barcelona.
The International Auto Show turned a century old in 2019, a year before the pandemic. The currently known as Automobile Barcelona enjoys an international reputation, where manufacturers, customers and suppliers of the sector come together to find out the latest news and interact with each other. It will be the industry's first event to be held after the COVID-19 pandemic.
In this 41st edition, the central axes of the show will be digitalization and decarbonization, with the main objective of reinforcing the event's commitment to innovation in the automotive sector.
One of the reasons why the dates of the event have been postponed during the year has been precisely to ensure the safety of all attendees and participants. The organizers of the event, Fira de Barcelona, have developed a strict safety protocol with an exceptional advice of the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona.
Among the measures established, are the use of mandatory masks, provision of hydroalcoholic gel, constant disinfection of all spaces and provision of training to the staff of the venue.
The final list of participating companies in the International Motor Show is yet to be confirmed, although everything indicates that the main brands will attend thanks to the change of dates made back in October. Some of the big names listed as regular participants are Volkswagen, Seat, Tesla, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Ferrari or Hyundai.
